Course Overview

This course will help you understand the safety standards and regulations related to working at heights. You will learn about the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, relevant regulations, approved codes of practice, and Singapore standards that apply to working at height. You will also become familiar with methods for assessing risks and using fall prevention systems and equipment safely.


Course Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Perform checks on Work at Height (WAH) equipment before and after use to ensure it's safe and functional.
  • Use WAH equipment properly in line with legislation and guidelines, including knowing when and how to use fall arrest and fall prevention systems.
  • Respond effectively in harness suspension trauma situations using self-relief techniques.

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for all workers who are required to work at heights. You will learn about the hazards associated with working at height and the safe practices needed to prevent accidents.


Pre-requisites

  • ES Workplace Literacy Level 3 or higher.
  • A basic understanding of numbers at the ES Workplace Numeracy Level 3 or higher.

  • Choosing the correct WAH equipment based on specific tasks
  • Using fall arrest and fall prevention systems correctly

Assessments

To complete the course successfully, you will need to pass:

  • Written Assessment:

    • Duration: 0.5 hour
    • Format: 20 multiple-choice questions (MCQs)
    • Passing Score: 60%
  • Practical Assessment:

    • Duration: 1 hour
    • Evaluation: Competent/Not Yet Competent
